Ed Brank sits in his office as a red door appears beyond the rain-streaked window and on his screen

Meet the Cast

Portrait of Ed Brank in his rain-darkened London office

Ed Brank

Ed Brank has spent twenty years finding people who would rather stay hidden.

Tired, recently divorced and short of paying clients, he knows when a case smells wrong. Seeing a missing woman inside his phone is wrong in a way even Ed cannot explain.

Elise Vale presses a hand against glass lit by a red screen

Elise Vale

Elise Vale was investigating a pattern of strange posts and missing people when she vanished.

Now she appears behind the red image, trying to warn Ed about what she found. She may be the only person who knows where the first image came from.

Faceless figure called Daemon appears inside a red-lit screen

Daemon

No one knows what Daemon is or where it came from. It asks questions, collects faces and learns to speak in voices people trust.

Every view brings it closer. Every share gives it somewhere new to go.

At 2:17 in the morning, private investigator Ed Brank sees a woman trapped inside a picture on his phone. She is Elise Vale, the missing person whose case he thought was closed.

The post asks a simple question: “What number do you see?” People answer. People share it. Then people disappear.

As the image spreads across London, Ed follows Elise’s trail to Red*Door Analytics, where a stranger has learnt his name, his voice and his face. To find Elise, he must discover what is looking back through the screen before it reaches everyone who has seen the post.
